Premium class policies
Do any employers have travel policies that allow business and first class tickets, but only one way and not return tickets - requiring that the passenger should return in coach? On grounds that the passenger is sent out to work and arrive well rested, but will get adequate rest after returning home in coach?
Also, do many employers have travel policies providing for business/first when the employee is going straight to duties, but requiring coach when the employee is due to get a hotel night´s rest at destination? |
yes, some employers have those policies.

Yes, some companies are like that, and some Government agencies are that way too in travel policies. Some Gov agencies require that if you fly premium class, that you go into work upon arrival/return, even if you flew a transcontinental red-eye. There are those that will only allow you to fly premium if you are returning home on a week night, and will have you fly coach if you are coming back on a weekend night under the idea that you'll have time to recover at home/hotel.

I've heard some employers offer a cash credit to their employees for not taking a premium class.

Ah yes, I've also heard that some companies will force you to fly on the cheapest coach ticket for that tranatlantic trip and expect you to go to work/meet customers when you arrive the next morning, stay over the weekend so as to minimize the cost, take the Sunday flight back and then be at work at the crac kof dawn on Monday morning. I think this same company does not expect/allow you to take a couple of days off to recoup the weekends lost to travel.
Now how many weekends did I miss this year???? |

When taking a job that requires international travel, it is definitely something to check out. Some companies allow for coach travel only unless you're an executive.
