ita question

On a weekend search there is not choice for class of service, is there another way to search for 1st class in a date range? Or is there another site that is better for this type of search?

I think you can do this by constraining the fare basis codes. See:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/5548893-post12.html

EDIT: Actually, that doesn't seem to work and I'm not sure why. It does work for specifying coach buckets, but I can't get it to work with business or first buckets.

e.g. from: ord :: ua / f ua..y-
to: sfo

returns flights from ord-sfo in y-class, and sfo-ord in cheapest available coach.

however, replacing the y with f or c causes an error.

Is there a good tutorial to explain how to add codes?

Newbie question... What is 'ita'?

bmvaughn Jul 2, 2009 4:24 pm

SEA :: O:UA+ / F BC=W|BC=V|BC=Q
GVA :: O:UA+ / F BC=W|BC=V|BC=Q

This means get me from Seattle to Geneva only on UA metal in fare booking classes W, V, or Q.

You could easily sub-out W/V/Q for C/D/Z or F/A/P.

That page is copied (nearly?) verbatim from ITA's own help page.

maybe I'm not seeing it, but on the ITA page, I don't see any info on specifying the fare basis (although it is on that page that is nearly identical).

Yeah, thats what I tried with my example. But non coach classes are returning an error on the weekend search page.

You can swap them out but it doesn't work for the weekend search (nor the 30-day, I think). It just isn't an option that they support these days.

There are some good tutorial threads linked to from the MR Forum stickies.
