Ever have a Courtesy Shuttle Driver get into an Accident?

Last month I was in Seattle with my brother for his bachelor party. As we were riding the Enterprise van from SEA to the off-site rental facility the bus driver crashed the vehicle. It wasn't an awful accident (he hit the Fox Rental Car van while trying to pull to the curb and damaged their bumper and knocked off their license plate) we still had to wait for a new bus. Overall it cost us fifteen minutes and a bit of a scare. Luckily Enterprise was very apologetic and waived my extra hour of rental. Still, it was my first time in 23 years of riding courtesy vehicles with an accident, how often has this happened to any one else?

Almost had one on a parking shuttle at DTW. Hit a patch of ice going under runway 9L/27R and the bus started to spinout. Thankfully the driver managed to recover before we went off the road or into someone else.

Yup, a similar thing happened to me in southern France some years ago. The shuttle van driver was distracted (talking to passengers) and he hit a car in traffic. Not a big accident, but it did delay us a bit.

I read a few years ago that a door to door shuttle in Seattle (same city as OP) rearended a car on the freeway sending a passenger into the windshield.

Back in the '90s, I was on the courtesy shuttle from one of the remote parking lots at PHL on the way to the airport. The driver cut a corner too close and scraped a car parked near the parking lot gate. The driver stopped, "wrote something down", and kept on going.

Almost, at the Avis lot two years ago in ATL. Driver was way too involved in a cell phone conversation, and almost rear-ended a rental car trying to get out of the parking lot. Had to slam on the brakes, throwing a lot of the standing riders (very full bus) around. Fortunately, no one got hurt, and several of us immediately marched into the office and complained to the manager.

Not on a courtesy shuttle but after arriving for my second conference presentation had a taxi driver get into an accident with a bus on the grounds of ATL back in fall 1996, which required getting a different taxi ... Fortunately, that wasn't an omen for future travel.

Yes, the shuttle to parking from LAX. He veered a little into the next lane and scraped the car next to us. We had to pull over and then the two drivers got in a fight. I waived down the next passing shuttle and got on it. Luckily they go by every ~5 minutes in LAX

In 1999 a guy with whom I worked was riding the car rental shuttle from the lot to MSY and the shuttle was rear-ended by a NOLA city bus. I told him if that happened to me I would be retired and set for life...:D

Yup..national car rental at SFO...

...driver was talking to a passenger and not watching the road...ran into the back of a stopped car going about 15 mph...as we were almost at the gates I had started to stand up...change in momentum sent me flying...I bit my lip...quite a bit of blood. national sent me a 5 day rental cert..thought it was fair.

i was on a shuttle that blew a tire a few years back... othewise shuttle drivers are often pretty experienced...they drive all day while most of us just drive from a to b...

I've never been in one, but apparently this is what it's like:

Yes, coming from the Holiday inn in San Mateo to SFO the driver fell asleep? all I remember is my buddy screaming at the driver and then we hit those big water barrels on the island coming into SFO.
The barrels took a pretty good bit of the impact but we still flew out of our seats. I still remember telling the driver he needed to get the van towed. He just smiled and said no problem. My buddy and i just stood there dumbfounded as he drove off with radiator fluid and oil pouring out of the van.

You should have got your rental free at least. You could easily sue.
