Flying predominately on AA:

1 (aisle), 2 (Y only), 9a, 9b, 7

9a = power port availability (Y only)

9b = FEBO meal selection (premium cabin only)

The rest are relatively unimportant to me.

1, 2 with most often, both going hand in hand and then 6 with rest not being that important

How do I choose my seats? Using my mouse to click on a seatmap.

Because of my disabled wife - 3.

aisle, leg room, recline.

I don't have status on any airline/alliance, so when it comes time to pick seats my choices are usually pretty limited.

That being said, I usually try to pick a window in the back 1/3 or 1/4 of the plane, unless I know I have a tight connection.

Reasoning -

1) Window = View. Love the view from 35K feet.

2) Back = Earlier boarding, which means I might get some overhead bin space before they're all gone.

I usually go for something in the back of the plane on my first leg because I worry that the plane will leave with out me and generally I have plenty of time. I go for seats on the aisle so I can get out easily if needed.

If I have a tight connection I'll sit up towards the front on the aisle. I like being as far forward as possible on the final leg of my flight so I have less time to wait to get off the plane.

2, 1, 7 and the rest are rounding errors.

9) in my case is the distance from bassinet seat. 'Further, the better'.
5) in my case is 'further, the better'

2, 4, 9, 1, 5, 3, 6, 7=8 if travelling whY or other non-shell seat or non-bed seat
6, 9, 4, 5, 1, 2=3=7=8 if travelling in J/F

Window/ near exit

My refrain: A window seat as far forward as possible, near the exit.

Keep it simple.

Whichever category I am flying or whatever metal that is my choice. There are so many things on a plane you can't control (screaming babies, offensive PAX, noise, poor service, lateness, noisy galleys, weather) that a window seat offers the promise of peace, calm, and sleep. Nothing else matters as much.

7,1,6,3

I always have a carry-on with a DVD player and reading material under the seat in front of me, so that is my priority.

4=1=7, 2=6, 3, 5, 8

AnalogMan Feb 10, 2009 2:14 pm

If I am not worried about on-board storage (i.e. flying CO and to a lesser extent SkyTeam)
1, 2, 3=6
4 is a nice to have
