Most miles flown in a calendar year?

I've always been curious, what's the most number of actual flown miles that anyone has had in a single calendar year? 300K? 400K? I wonder what the record is...

Pilots fly a lot. Figure to and from Asia once a week (or so) for 10K miles a week and they have 500K+ a year.

There was a thread on FT (I think this forum) where a member claimed over a million miles in one year.

Whoa a million? That's 20k per week. That's almost around the world ever week. That's also something like 40 hours per week in flying. Boy would that be tiring.

I have to call BS on this one, at least for now.

At 550mph, 1,000,000 miles would be 35 hours flying per week, every week. That seems to stretch the imagination. Unless it were a pilot... or an astronaut, maybe.@:-)

I find it hard to believe that one can fly a million miles in a year. Maybe he earned a total of 1 million miles in a year.

I personally know of a Flyertalker that does 400k in a year.

My highest was last year, at 135,000. It's peanuts compared to some around here.

Twice a week? I don’t buy it. It takes me days to recover from my Asia trips. Why in the world would someone travel twice a week to Asia?

Said person claimed that they worked basically full time in Asia but had a family in CA. They didn't want to live in Asia, so they "lived" in CA and worked in Asia. Really (if true) they lived in an airplane.

I've flown to SAN and back from BOS.

Not much, but hey, I'm just a kid. I'll log my miles later in life.

My busiest travel year so far was 2007 with 487,716 flown miles (doesn't include any bonuses, or minimum mileage). There are FTers who fly more than me.

I have a friend who did ~750k miles in 2000. He was a Y2K project manager for a large multinational. He said out of the project team of 15 start started the project in 1998 and 2000 14 quit during the project due to the travel commitments.
