$30 a night, bats included.

Perhaps the most mysterious aspect of the hotel is the process of booking a reservation. The hotel has no phone, so prospective guests must call the Warehouse, a bar across the street, and leave a message for Howie, the hotel concierge, who does not reveal his last name and who sleeps until 2 p.m. every day.

I remember that building very well. In the 70s/80s we spent a lot of time at Juanita's and later the Bull Valley Inn. I loved Port Costa. Driving out of there at night after a bottle of wine could really be an adventure...

True enough! If I ever get to move back there I would love to live in Crockett. Any town that produced Aldo Ray has to have something going for it...^
