Flight History Map
I always forget that website where you can write you're flights in and it shows where you've travel on a map. Anyone know what website I'm talking about
Why the insult directed at OF? The interface is way cleaner and the stats can be manipulated in many more ways. The ability to zoom in and actually see details on the map is a huge improvement over FM, IMO. A well populated FM map is a blob of letters that are illegible in some regions (NE USA and Europe come to mind).

I prefer FlightMemory.
YMMV

I prefer the new open flights to the old flight memory when its working.
The ability to zoom in and check out various routes individually is a major plus.

I'm not sure why you decided it was an insult  I was simply noting that FM is the older well-known one (and probably the one the OP was thinking about) and OF is the new one snapping at its heels. I was simply providing all the options, hope you don't object to that ;)

The use of the word "pretender" in the description. New entrant, new option, or new service all would make sense if you're trying to describe them as such. By describing it as the "new pretender" the implication is that they aren't really a service to be considered as they aren't really all there.

Well, I disagree that new pretender necessarily implies all that (beyond perhaps historical connotations). IMO in sport for example a new pretender could emerge to challenge an existing champion and that is a complement rather than a dismissal. However life is too short to quibble and veer this far off topic, so instead I shall avoid excessive purple prose in future ;)

FYI, links to lengthy threads discussing both sites:

I understood your meaning immediately and inferred no pejorative intent. Maybe it's a geographical thing.

I'm the head developer for OpenFlights and I wasn't offended -- it is the new kid on the block after all, and still in kinda-sorta testing mode (but not for long!). Any feedback for what we could do to make it better is always welcome
