Maldives without a doubt. Totally amazing. Lots of super nice resorts...sometimes you can even get some great packages at a nice discount on Luxury Link. You could even do a week there and a week somewhere else depending on what you are looking for.

I agree with Phoenix... French Polynesia would be the go. Head over and enjoy some time there, splitting between the islands of Bora Bora and Moorea. You will be fine on a 10,000 Euro budget.

A good safari is $1500 a night, not to mention premium cabin tickets down to southern Africa. I'd go either with French Polynesia or Tahiti, but, the reality is that none of these placed are really going to get done properly on a $13000 budget including flights, for 15 nights of accomodation.

Bora Bora ??
Thats where my 3rd wife and I went for our honeymoon. Or a trip around Europe, thats where I took my boyfriend last April... I love beaches. |

Personally I find Maledives and similar destinations boring after three days max (i'm not a diver and I don't like to toast myself silly on the beach the whole day). Especially if you're looking for something special, consider Safari. Kenya is really worth a trip. Mombasa has some very nice beaches as well to unwind after the safari. Or before.... If you need some tips let me know.... W |
I've pimped Belize (ambergris caye) about a million times on FT already... why stop now?
Belize, to me, was outstanding. Best vacation ever. World class snorkeling, fishing, scuba diving. Ambergris Caye and the town of San Pedro... it stole my heart. Part of it remains in San Pedro. From the island, you can go back to the mainland for jungle tours, mayan ruin tours, cave tubing, etc. PM me if you want more info. Congrats, btw. |

Huh? What kind of lodges did you stay in?!? Safaris is not really for budget travelers, but you great lodges for 200$/night. More is always possible :)

Not too far apart. OTOH, I sailed on a small cruiseship from Mombassa to the Seychelles, which took us to Tanzania, Zanzibar, Comoros Islands, Madagascar and began in Kenya with a Safari in the Masai Mara. Sailing around the Seychelles at the end of the journey was incredible. A lovely ending. Now, that was one fanatastic trip!^ |
