Does it get easier ?
Hi all,
I'm a relatively young Fter who lives away from home and therefore flies a lot. A non Fter would say i may have a slight obsession with the aviation industry. My question is, over the years will this 'obsession' wear off or will it become stronger. p.s i love my obsession  |
Given the airline industry's condition, you might find that your affection fades away quicker than you thought possible...
|
As long as you're having fun, it doesn't matter what others think. :)
|
Well, it wears off in that you stop calling it an obsession and just think everybody else is crazy for not doing it.
Seriously, sometimes it stays with you forever, other times you get bored with, everybody is different. |
Depends
I'm 30 - and I've just recently got the bug of traveling, where most of my time spent planning next trips, and figuring creative ways to get miles to travel in front cabin :)
|
So much so I spent quiet a while looking to get into the industry any way I could, managed to get a foothold by joining a res centre, and now work at LHR in a job I love (As its In T5, I get some great views of airport life, though do sometimes stare at a plane taking off wishing I was on it :p)
Have been here a year so far, and the bug has not gone at all. Im forever planning trips and look forward to each and every one.:D |
No
I was 11 the first time I flew, 25 the first time I flew across the Atlantic and now I am 50. 45 countries later I still love it, I hope I never stop loving it.

The aviation industry is like an abusive relationship. You know its unhealthy and you can probably do better, but you just can't bring yourself to break it off.
If you can find your niche in the industry though, it offers opportunities like none other. The sky is truly the limit (or is it?).... |
no, it doesnt, I am at 29, and at 80 countries.
Thanks in large to the last 6.5 years on FT, I ve been able to travel in premium cabins where I never thought I'd find myself considering none of my travel is for work. Most people I know think I am an air travel geek, but its ok, theyre back in coach :D |
