FedEx Delivery to Hotel

I need to receive a package while on the road in San Fransisco, it'll have to be signed-for and was wondering if most hotels will be happy to sign for and accept packages for current/incoming guests?

Haven't picked the hotel yet but will call them to double check once decided.

Any experience or recommendations, for example on how the package should be addressed, etc?

Is this safe for high value items, and if not any other recommendations? For example Amex offices usually have a post receiving service, however this is for letters only.

Thanks!

Most hotels will do this but it won't be free.

I often do this, but then I pretty much live at the hotel I stay at.
You may want to check with the shipper, because some companies will not ship to hotels.

I've done it before and never had to pay a fee for it.

There are two variables when it comes to package delivery to hotels: Where in the hotel it will be delivered and whether or not you will be charged by the hotel for receiving it.

In general, the larger the hotel the more likely it will be delivered not to the front desk but to the receiving dock or the "business center" and the more likely there will be a service charge.

For example, if it is a Courtyard it will be received by the front desk and they won't charge you. If it a LAS hotel on the strip, it will go to the biz center and you will be charged.

As always, YMMV.

Nope

I have never been charged for this at any hotel.

Being in the tourism industry here in Florida people often have odd items or things that wont travel well they need/want to have on their trips. The advice given out is commonly just to have it shipped to the hotel - being sure to include your arrival dates and such on the box. Some places will have it waiting in your room is they offer that level of service.

Never heard of it being charged for, but water used to be free too.

I've had stuff shipped to a hotel.

However, I happened to be speaking to somene who sold watch accessories. He swore to never send to hotels as sometimes things get "lost".

I was just noticing on some hotel websites that it mentions their fee for accepting packages. Can be up to $50 for a heavy package. Those under 50 pounds are usually <$25 at hotels that charge.

I'm glad when it's free, but at most big hotels I'm used to paying $5 a package. I frequently get as many as 4-5 items delivered to the hotel whenever I stay in the usa... usually I put my name + "checkin mm/dd", followed by a "c/o hotel name" underneath and have never had a problem.

Recently the W Atlanta received my 3 regular mail packages at no charge, and my one UPS signature required package for $5.

Most hotels that I stay at have charges for package deliveries, but seem to waive those for elite members.

I receive FedEx packages at hotels often and usually have no problem with it. Some charge a fee, others do it freely.

I have more problems sending out FedEx packages from hotels than receiving them.

Depending on the Size of the package, make sure you know where in the hotel it will be delivered. Had a normal next day letter sized FEDEX delivered to the Sheraton FLL and it was sent to the loading dock. Next time I will have it noted that it is to go to the Front Desk. That way I can be sure that it can be found quickly

Just FYI, but you can note whatever you want; however, if the hotel wants all deliveries to their dock, that's where FedEx is going to deliver to. If they try to deliver to the front desk in that situation, they are just going to be told to go to the dock regardless of what you note on the package. You need to work out getting from the dock to the front desk with the hotel.

I had to have a replacement credit card sent to a hotel in Dubai. No problem at all - it was held at the front desk and no fee.
