Ath

There is an excellent, free and not very well advertised museum upstairs at Athens airport which houses some really interesting exhibits including stuff dug up when they built the airport.
Nice way to kill half an hour.

ehh i've never had that problem, at CLE or other airports with interconnected terminals. in fact, last time i used B concourse instead of C, the guy commented that everyone does it, and you'd be stupid not to

I think the TSA concourse thing has happened only at some airports where the terminals are very far apart, or in cases where someone is trying to enter a terminal with same day, same airport bp but the terminal is separate airside.

In any event, tell the TSA you've met their requirement that you have a BP for that day and that airport and how you navigate the airport is not really their concern...

You can definitely use any concourse at airports which are connected airside (eg: DFW); I do this every week. At DCA, afaik you cannot do the same since the piers have individual checkpoints (eg: there is no airside way to get from terminal A to terminal B).

Thank you! Great thread. However, it just tells you about nice spots at airports. I also wanted to know other secrets. (good restaurants, tips on how to get through faster...) Yes, I would love to find out information that have not already been covered by the other thread. Thank you everyone!

PHX Terminal 2

Very clean (not much foot traffic) rest rooms in the lower-level of the concourse.

Access via the escalators/stairs near the CO gates or the escalators/stairs at the end of the concourse near the AS gates.

Yeah, I do it too at CLE if the lines are too long at the C concourse. Although sometimes I don't mind the wait if the COBRA line is open. I hate taking out my laptop and baggie and will put up with the extra wait time if I don't have to do that.

There is another checkpoint over the skybridge leading to concourse A. It is usually less crowded than the checkpoints on the terminal floor.

at EWR, BWI (and maybe a lot of airports) -- when you are waiting to be picked up, or you are picking someone else up, arrange to meet on the departures level. Traffic is usually much, much better than on the arrivals/taxi levels.

JFK is a pain in the a** to navigate by car so if you are picking someone up, just have him take the internal train to the Lefferts Boulevard station, where you will be able to wait peacefully and he will be able to casually load his bags into your trunk without someone with an armband hustling you along.

IMO, it is as fast, or not much slower, and a lot more pleasant than waiting in the cellphone lot for your call and then getting over there to the proper terminal to pick up your guest at the proper spot (which at some of those terminals is not so easy to find).

CLT

Due to the Hub/Spoke timing of flights...if you are flying US Airways use Concourse A or B's security. If you are flying most other airlines use B C or D.

If you are a smoker, the other place to smoke is the US Airways lounge between C and D.

There is a gelato place in B and a Bojangles just opened at the end of B for when you gotta, wanna, needa, getta, have a Bojangles.

At many airports especially in the U.S., information about available public transit to the city is a well kept secret.

H20master99 Jul 28, 2008 12:22 am

At LAX, if flying out of T6 or T7, use the security next to UA's premium check-in area, the line is often much shorter than at the checkpoints near the CO check-in or the UA economy check-in on the second level. Once, I got stopped by a TSA agent when flying CO who told me that I need a UA BP to use that particular line, but knowing that was untrue, I just made a confused face and made some comment about how I thought it was the same terminal and she let me through.

Same applies for CGN and DUS.

HAM has a nice and free airport terrace to overlook the runways and tarmac.
