Airport Annoyances

These things can drive me banana at the airport on a regular basis:

1) People that have to go through the metal detetor 20 times. Seriously? Is that necessary? Yes, you have to take your belt off. Yes, your shoes too. You forgot to take your boarding pass through, OMG, alert the presses.

2) People standing shoulder to shoulder on the walking people mover? Seriously?????? Who doesn't think to allow people to pass? Are you the only person in existance? Also those standing side by side that are oblivious to the loud walkers coming up behind them. Hellllooooo? Don't you hear my rollerback coming like a freight train?

3) Folks that stop dead in their tracks in the middle of the busy walkway. Seriously? Nuff said

4) Folks that are just plain oblivious when boarding the a/c that there is a line of pax, anxious to find a seat. Go ahead, take you time maam, stand there in the aisle digging things out of your bag in the OHB, we have ALL the time in the world.

Will add more when time permits. Ah, I feel better now :D

Anyone else?

Or standing shoulder to shoulder on escalators... ugh.

A family or other group of four people, waddling side-by-side down a concourse, totally unaware that they're completely blocking traffic.

When I see people so consistently oblivious in this and other ways, whether in airports or malls or anyplace else, I always marvel that there aren't more traffic accidents.

The loud and obnoxious "beep-beep-beep" of the little electric carts at ATL. Most other airports manage to run carts without the noise, so I don't see why it can't be done at ATL.

And a corollary to that, it is annoying that people should have to scurry out of the way to allow these things to pass. I have no problem with the use of the carts, but they are for moving people who can't walk well, not for racing from one gate to the next.

Unfortunately, all of the above I file under "Overwhelming Sense of Self-Entitlement", and yes, it bothers me to no end.

Interesting. I'd call them issues of common courtesy. Everyone is entitled to that.

Besides there is a big difference between responding to a question as to what things annoy you at an airport (and generally these seem to be things that we just put up with without complaining), and filing petty complaints and compensation requests when things haven't gone our way.

People (usually employees and flight crews) using the Family bathrooms to smoke :td:

I think asnovici was referring to the folks exhibiting this annoying behavior as the ones with the "Overwhelming Sense of Self-Entitlement," not the OP.
