Carry-on Question

Hello,
I was wondering about the exact carry on rules. For example are people allowed to bring a purse and a carry on? I'm asking because I wanted to bring a backpack along with a camera bag and was wondering if that would be allowed. I will be flying Qantas and American Airlines. Thanks for your help.

Most airlines, including AA, say that you can bring a carry-on plus a "small personal item" such as a briefcase. Based on my experience, you won't have a problem with your camera bag and a backpack. I definitely push the rule a bit, but I usually bring on board a rolling bag plus another bag without wheels that is almost the same size, plus my purse (which I'll throw into the carryon if anyone questions it).

DLim98-

Also be sure to check the AA and Quantas size restrictions. Some airports/TSA agents are pickier than others, so it's always good to make sure you're well within limits.

Read this recent post and see how AA reinforces their rules for carry-on bags: 'one carry one bag and one TINY personal item only'
