Do you like it? How comfortable will 8 abreast business class be, seeing as 8 abreast is standard, non-premium economy on SQ?

How would you compare the comfort of business class on Singapore (4 abreast diagonal flatbeds at 55 inches pitch) with Qantas A380 business class (forward facing flatbeds at 6 abreast, 80 inches pitch)?

Comparing the first classes against each other, Singapore has 12 4 abreast Suites on lower deck. Qantas has 14 first class seats also on lower deck, but no enclosing suite doors. Whereas Emirates has 14 first class seats 4 abreast on upper deck - considerably narrower than 4 abreast on lower deck.

Any Airline not including Premium Economy on Long Haul is totally out of touch with the consumer.

UncleDude, the demand is for premium classes. look at load factors for SQ's new products for example.

Exactly !!! so remove some Economy/Coach Seats and add Premium Economy..30% more space used..But 80% more revenue received. I dont recall I ever said lose any Business or First Seats.

Gotta agree here... we do need more premium-economy seats, particularly on long-haul international. The drawback is if they start charging J-miles for Y+ award seats (it could happen).

Question about UA: I know that elites get complimentary Y+ seating on domestic routes; does the same apply on intl ones?

Yes. Flew CLT-SYD (with a few stops) in E+ all the way. I redeemed miles for 2 tickets for friends and bought 1 E+ access (i play by the rules) so we all rode in E+.

If you're an elite, you should be able to have one guest with you in E+.

SQ's A380 upper deck Y cabin was supposed to have been fitted as a Y+ cabin but decided against it during the early stages.

Qantas does have premium economy on A380. Very back of upper deck. 32 seats, 7 abreast, 42 inches pitch. The rest of upper deck is business, 72 seats, 6 abreast, 80 inches pitch.

That main deck is just frightening - gave me cold sweats just thinking about sitting there.

Agreed! I REALLY prefer the SQ layout..... not to mention that UD Y on SQ's 380 is about "as good as it gets" in Y... IMO :D

At least they didn't attempt to do a 3-5-3 with 17" seats :p

Air France B777-300ER has more seats in coach than EK A380, and more seats total than SQ A380.
