Passport rules
 
Apologies for asking but the USCIS website is not geared to answering questions...

Can someone point me at requirements for visiting the US? I assume it's just machine readable passports for EU citizens and nothing else like the mooted biometrics etc?

Looks like I might have answered my own questions but... any further comment on future plans by the US government are appreciated

I think your question is a bit too general to get much help here. Can you be more specific? Since it looks like you're from GB, you won't have much trouble visiting the U.S. at all. Unfortunately, it's the people who live outside of Western Europe who are looked at with a jaundiced eye by our current fatherland security administration. Definitely NOT concerned about getting into the US from a visa-waiver point of view but given last time I tried to use my non-machine readable passport they threw a fit, I wanted to check that all that is needed is machine-readable passports.
