EOS or Silverjet
 

Hi

Posted below about a trip to New York I'm planning. On investigation, I can get Silverjet return for £1051 or EOS return for £1233.

Who would people recommend for those prices?

I have flown both and enjoyed each VERY much. There is more space per pax on EOS as there are only 48 pax. On Silverjet you have 100 pax. Both offer flat bed seats and both are very comportable.

I think the cuisine on EOS was a tad better than Silverjet and the EOS lounges are better.

EOS in April will be into JFK while Silverjet is EWR. I am EWR based so JFK is a bit of a pain for me.

Its really hard to choose but if you want to save a little dosh go for Silverjet. Its actually easier to get into the city from EWR IMHO. Also, if Luton is closer to you than Stansted then go for Silverjet

silverjet is lieflat, E0 is flatbed.

E0 is adding EWR and DXB in may and july.

E0 uses the EK lounge at JFK.

Having flown Silverjet twice I can attest to the fact they are flatbed. The following is from their website:

"Sleep is our real priority on our overnight flights. So, drift off in our 6'3" flat beds with no announcements, overhead lights or cabin noise to spoil your rest. We will wake you up just 30 minutes before landing to ensure you have the longest possible lie in and we can even give you an express breakfast to take away."

I thought OP was looking to go in April, hence EOS does only JFK in April. They are giving a 10% discount on flts to EWR once service begins though if the trip is booked by 4-11. I believe the 10% is good May thru September.

Thanks for the replies - yes the main difference seems to be that EOS bed lies fully flat and Silverjet one is angled.

No-one really seems to have recommended one over the other though - anyone got any thoughts??

EOS is the higher end product for sure.

Why? Apart from the bed, can anyone give examples of EOS's superior service?

Also - Silverjet make a big thing on their website about being able to check in 30 mins before flight - I can't find that info on EOS website. When do you need to check in with them?

i would call both airlines to confirm details if you want to use minimum checkin.

i have not read anything (here or elsewhere) saying silverjet is better than E0. i have also read about people switching from BA F and VS J to E0, while i have not read about people switching to silverjet.

I have flown EOS, Silverjet and the defunct Maxjet in the last six months. The silverjet ground service is superb, your luggage is collected by the concierge and the boarding pass brought to you. At Luton your Mercedes (On the right fare) is waiting at the kerb just outside arrivals. Inflight service is excellent and the choice of food is good.
EOS is like a regular airline and I still havent got my promised Frequent flyer points despite 10 reminders.
If you check skyauction.com you can get SILVERJET one way EWR-Luton for $ 700 one way and Dubai $3000 return with a stopover in London both directions.

The websites of both EOS and Silverjet are working fine now.

i've only flown silverjet, but found the services at both luton and ewr to be top notch. food was great -- way better than we've gotten used to on most domestic airlines' international or transcon service.

on board it was extremely comfortable, and felt very spacious. plus, (and i realize i sound like a huge snob saying this) you're surrounded by higher-end passengers, so you're unlikely to have any disruptions or fellow passengers who have no idea how to behave in such a situation, as i'm finding increasingly on regular carriers.

If the price difference is only 200 gbp, I would definitely choose EOS over Silverjet. If only for the better seats.

jws026: Yeah, unless they take on y pax from an overbooked tourist flight that have no ....ing manners whatsoever, delay the flight by two hours to load their useless luggage, fly you in late to EWR where you get to wait two hours to clear customs. Clearly superior service.
