GDA (Sabre-Worldspan-Apollo-gailleo)
 

I am looking to get into the travel industry, in other words to become a certified travel agent. I have a question and I continue to get conflicting reports on this. Here it is: I have heard that anybody (consumers) can subscribe to a GDS system (i/e Sabre), but just not be able to ticket. Although, they can have the system on their desktop. Is this true? I would think that only travel agents would be elgible for access to these systems. :) I meant GDS, sorry, not GDA

When I got mine I had to provide my IATA number. I honestly can not remember if it is was a "strict / mandatory" requirement or what but I remember having to put in my cruise line number and my iata number and other items.
