Luggage Name Tag should include?

What information should you have on your luggage ID tag? Your home address and phone, so they can contact a answering machine. Or place your itinerary in it? Or just a name and cell phone number? What do the experts suggest?

Thanks

Name & flight ONLY

If you include any other personal details like address or phone number then a bad person could read that and arrange for a little "house removal"

Outbound flight: On external tags, I provide name, flight number/date and contact info in the destination city. Inside the luggage I'd include more details.

Return flight: I understand the security concerns for those who live in a stand-alone house, but I live in a well-guarded apartment building, so I don't mind putting the building address. I use a friend's phone numbers simply to make sure that any call would be answered.

I list my office address, to avoid broadcasting the fact that my house has fewer people in it than usual. I list my cell phone number, since it roams and is not listed anywhere as associated with my address.

Name, cell number, and home airport. I figure that if the bags can get back to the right airport, I'll be happy to go pick them up.

Identifying "home airport" is a great idea and I might adopt it in future, thanks!

Name
Roaming Cell Phone
Cell Phone # in the destination country - I usually get that for long/frequent trips

My luggage tag includes the following on a label

Steven Frischling
USA: +1(415)738-7786
EUR:+44(0)7092 384045
HKG:+(852)3678-9948
[email protected]

I figure phone numbers that can reach me anywhere in the world and an e-mail address should work.

I'll put whatever is needed to get my bag back to me. What I really want is a tag that the baggage handling system cannot tear off or mangle.

I have my name, my home airport, and my cell number. I always marvel at people who put their whole address on their bag tag. I always thought it was great advertising to people that YOU AREN"T HOME, ROB MY HOUSE.

Inside my suitcase I have the same information but I will also include a copy of my itinerary......

A business card.

I use a business card as well. That way, I avoid broadcasting the fact that I'm not at home.

Jet Set Feb 21, 2008 7:08 pm

I would not write my home address or home phone. I would write my business address or a number that can be easily changed. A business card sounds like a logic choice.
