Unaccompanied baggage?
 

Google has not been my friend here!

Doing a MR in the last few days of a US trip later this year.. and would love to be able to hand my suitcase over to an airline in ABQ - head off for a few days Hand-luggage-only travelling.. then pick up the case at LAX and proceed to check in for the trip home..

Before 9/11 I could have just sent the case all the way home.. but that is no longer an option....

Is what I want to do even possible? :confused:

i dunno if it's possible. but you could just not pick it up in ABQ on the carousel, and i assume your airline would store in their baggage claim office, and you could just call them a couple days before you leave (if they don't call you) and have them send it on to lax to meet you there.
not sure how plausible my idea is, i'm sure it'll be picked apart, but i hope its a good start.

For domestic US shipping (e.g. ABQ to LAX) you would have to use UPS or Fedex, and a hotel or agent as recipient, or pay UPS to hold for pickup. Possible but not cheap or easy (but a lot cheaper than QF or NZ).

Ah well.... one can HOPE for a simple way to do things... but I must admit I wasn't very confident.. so I've come up with something ELSE that will work.... through the kindness of friends!
