Hotel Workouts

I'm trying to find a good beginner workout for a hotel room if I dont have a weight room available. Obviously running and walking are good for cardio but I need to do workouts as if I had no weights available other than my own body weight.

Any ideas?

Resistance bands work well and are small enough to pack.

How heavy is your suitcase full of your stuff ? You can lift that.

Angled push-ups work well for me.

You can also do sit-ups as well. All you need is the floor or the bed.

If you can pack a 71cm (29") tube in your luggage something like this works pretty well

Push-ups, sit-ups (curls), lunges, squats, dips, back extensions, calf raises, side leg lifts....all can be done without weights and in your own room.

I think this is a relatively popular topic. I remember seeing a segment on travel exercises on TV once with dips, etc. I did a quick search on the internet and didn't find anything concise & good, but I suspect with some more detailed searching, you could find a .pdf with a planned workout and illustrations.

I do a quick Pilates mat workout as my daily routine. At home I use a yoga mat; on the road a folded blanket or a few towels stacked up works well. Unlike yoga, you're not standing (most exercises are done lying on your back or side) so you don't need to worry about having a surface with traction - just enough cushioning that you don't feel the hard floor on your back. You can do a quick workout that does your core and legs really well in 20-30min, and the stretching components help with relaxation.

a super-set workout combining abs and pushups is a killer workout to do anytime, not just in the hotel room....push ups and abs can be done in so many ways that it allows for a variety in each workout...plus you are training your core while doing abs and an array of muscle groups doing push ups (back, tri's, shoulders, chest, etc depending on hand positioning and angle)...so do a set of push ups, roll over, and do some abs and call it one set....do this each night and see how fast you get in shape or stay toned up
