Is The End of Mesa In Sight?

Mesa's stock price hit a 17-year low earlier today, and the stock has been in steady decline for more than a year.

Meanwhile, Mesa has delayed reporting its FY 2007 financials until at least January 15. A big loss is expected to be reported.

Is the end of Mesa in sight?

More importantly, will anyone who has suffered their "service" shed a single tear?

I think what is scarier is who or what will replace Mesa?

At least we are aware of all the issues with Mesa. It's similar to the annoying relative that comes to visit for the holidays. We all know what to expect.

With the Mesa replacement.... it could be worse.

How could it be worse? I say good riddance. If Skywest or GoJet wants to fill in their place, it can only be an improvement.

If Mesa goes under...Good Riddance but I hope the wonderful guys/gals at Mesa pull through at other airlines.

now WHO wants to help me raise some capital to buy Mesa and start a brand new Flyertalk Airways ;)

I'm sure GoJet and SkyWest need a handful of new employees. ;)

All I want is the CRJ700s and I'd outfit it ina 1x2 config Domestic Biz...kinda an Expressjet thing but it would be strictly PTP.

SkyWest would be great. Dunno about GoJet as I haven't flown with them...

So, 200% EQM bonus, free booze, and AVODs (yes I know it's an RJ and hey, there are some long flights on those these days)?

Since Mesa operates outside of the United system, this topic is being moved to TravelBuzz!

Well, I personally think it belongs in the UA forum as the forum name is United Mileage Plus and people earn MP miles on Mesa. Which brings me on to my question:

I've always wondered why RJ services operate independently. For instance, there is always talk how consolidation amongst the Big 6 (?) airlines would reduce overhead costs, expand operations and perhaps increase the loyalty base, etc. Why wouldn't UA want to outright own it's UX operations? (of course i realize that right now with the state mesa is in, perhaps it's not a good idea) I am sure there's a good reason for it, but I ain't no MBA. Perhaps someone can enlighten me...

Well, I would say that Mesa operates inside the United system, and that this thread belongs here in the United forum.

They fly shabby airplanes painted with the United colors, FA's wear United uniforms, and we earn United Mileage Plus miles.
