Problem with ticketing a multi-segment reservation

I am holding a reservation as follows:

KHI PK DXB BA LHR BA YYZ AC YUL AC YYZ BA LHR BA DXB PK KHI

However, my TA said he can't ticket because

i) AC flights cannot be issued on PK stock
ii) PK flights cannot be issued on BA stock
iii) ticket cannot be issued on AC stock

My question is:

can I re-route

KHI PK DXB GF BAH BA LHR BA YYZ AC YUL AC YYZ BA LHR BA DXB PK KHI

and have the ticket issued by GF? Simply put: how do you know if a ticket can be issued on xxx carriers stock. Does it have to be first international carrier? First over water? Any carrier?

Thanks!

BA will permit bookings to be plated on its stock if either BA has the first international sector or if BA has over 50% of the itinerary. Your itinerary looks like a BA fare so there should be no problem issuing this on BA paper.

I would be surprised if AC/PK didn't also have an interline agreement but this is ultimately irrelevant if BA stock could be used for the whole itinerary.

Thanks!

On my itinerary, BA has exactly half the flights, and PK is the first international segment. Is this still ok?

Also, any 'tips' I can give my TA to help ticket this? He said PK couldn't be issued on BA stock due to validation and somethingoranother. :(

Thanks!

Cheers,

a) Plating carrier must have an interline agreement with all transporting carriers.
b) Fare basis must permit ticket to be issued on plating carrier's stock.
c) Plating carrier's ticketing policy must permit (or at least not prohibit) the ticket from being issued.

I've seen tickets issued on the strangest stock for itineraries that involved segments between airlines that did not interline with each other directly (eg. PHL-US-LGW-G0-ACC on ET stock).

In your case, the key question would be "what fare basis are you ticketing under?". The fare basis will probably restrict or specify which airlines can plate it.

Thanks!

The TA insists that it's not possible so I am going to try my last resort: the online ITN AMEX site (which is the only one that will price it out.) It says "validating carrier PK" which worries me a bit, but I hope that the computer will somehow find a way to ticket it :)

Many airlines would effectively cut themselves out of many markets they did not serve directly if the first international sector was the ultimate pre-requisite to issue their tickets.

Yes. They are very good - the only TA to be able to ticket all my complex itineraries including some 18 - segement RTWs which were a combination of around 5 fares end-on-ended together. ^

It is a KHI-YUL DFFPK fare, which turns out to be almost $1000 cheaper then just going till YYZ. It works out, because my parents (who will be using these tickets) go to YUL for business. They then use the YYZ-YUL-YYZ sectors for that trip.

There's possibly another reason why the TA is not willing to play ball. Does it have a BA plate? It may, for other reasons, just be very reluctant to issue BA tickets. If the TA is not telling fibs in saying that AC/PK have no interline agreement, then this would be a very compliacted itinerary for a TA to issue if it is unable/not prepared to use a BA plate.

The AC/PK agreement is correct; I have run into this problem before.

I will call BA to see if they can do anything, though I am not looking forward to explain my itinerary over the phone :( Do they have any travel shops in Canada/US?

Thanks!

I called BA and they can't even get PK flights to show up on their system :(

Ugh.

Given Up

I think the time has come to admit defeat. I phoned 3 different TAs, visited 2, and phoned BA in New York and Islamabad (Karachi has closed its office) without success. I would normally not waste so much effort but this is $2k+ cheaper than anything else I can find on the same route. :(

I decided against using the AMEX site especially since no live person could even figure it out. If anyone knows any uber-competent TAs that would be great :)

Cheers,

ps thanks Bukhara and others for all your help! ^

Does it have to be based in NYC?

Nope, anywhere will do (as long as they accept US credit cards and can ship a paper ticket to the US) :)
