what baggage claim type do you prefer

The revolving carousel or the one that comes out through one door snakes through and then back throug another

Revolving carousel; if I miss my bag for any reason the first time around, it doesn't take a week to reappear.

I also like the gadget I saw at FRA earlier this year: a photocell on the carousel that switches the incoming conveyor off if another bag will be where the new one will drop. It's not 100 percent, but it tends to keep bags from dropping onto other bags nearly every time.

Completely agree with the revolving carousel. I'm frightened of the ones that go back behind the door. last time I encountered one of those (when I checked bags) was in Orlando and I lost a good set of golf clubs :(

I actually prefer the ones that snake back inside. I frequently check cases of wine when I fly, and I always hate to see those boxes come sliding down the chute, crashing into whatever else is on the carousel. I know... I know.... luggage gets basically mauled behind the scenes. But if I don't see it happen, it's all good, right? :p

I prefer being handed my luggage over by the airline rep instead of messing about with carousels of any type. I've only experienced this after an EY flight, but one can hope that other airlines will copy them. :D

I prefer to not use them at all. ^

If I need to, I want those to be fast :D

I know this is not very surprising...

Hmm. FT is getting lush and tropical again today.

There's something familiar about the Greenery.

I also agree that the revolving carousel is far better - They usually have far more space for all the people to stand around.

The other thing is that - in my perhaps prejudiced opinion - all those airports with the non-carousel baggage claims seem to take FAR longer to get my bags to me.

Great response J-M! FWIW I'll vote for gate-checked. :D

You forgot gate checked and the baggage claims that have a trolley with bags that gets rolled around from a/c to the front door.

I don't check bags so my favourite type is the one that you aren't forced to walk through on arrival.

not to be flip about this but I prefer any and all types where my luggage actually appears

the 'black hole' type were everything goes in at check in and never show up on the other end suck LOL

Revolving carousel. You can actually see if new bags are coming in because they drop out of the chute. It takes awhile for me to realize when I'm waiting at a place like MYR that I'm just seeing the same bags going around and around- and then I get irritated.

I don't care what kind it is as long as it doesn't take forever and I'm not being pushed out of the way by people who just have to stand in the very front or they will have a heart attack.

I like the ones when it drops down. It's fun to see bags topple over eachother, fall off, jam the belt etc. :o

Cheers,
