Where to buy travel size powdered laundry detergent?
I live in the west suburbs of Chicago and would like to pick up some powdered travel detergent, I have found many places that sell it in liquid form, but would rather not place that in my checked baggage. I have tried Target, Wally World (Wal-Mart), and Walgreens but no luck.
Has anyone found these for sale anywhere? I'd rather not buy it at the hotel.
Thanks

I know I've seen them somewhere, probably mail order, but I can't recall exactly. Perhaps it was drugstore.com.
Why don't you just take some and place it in a ziplock bag?

I've seen it at CVS in the Chicagoland area.
An alternative is Wisk tablets, found in any grocery store--individual tabs wrapped 2 per package in a box of 24 or more. Even if the washer is a front loader, you can crumble the tablets to put them in the detergent dispenser.

They used to make "pill" type laundry tabs that were great for travel but I can't find them anymore. We DID, however, find tiny travel liquid packs at REI. They were so flat one couldn't tell there was liquid in them anyway. Worked great.

Just get a French genuine Marseilles soap and cut it to size if necessary with a hot knife.
L'Occitane sells it if you can't find it elsewhere.
It's the soap traditionally used (and still used) around the mediterranean for washing clothes - but it's also really good to your skin. If your skin is particularly sensitive, it's more than ideal.
I've even used it to wash my (long) hair, and it wasn't too bad.
I remembered my clean freak Spanish grandmother used it for laundry, tried it out on my face, liked the results, and started taking it on my travels. My husband (who has severe eczema) liked it too and has adopted it for regular skin washing. I also use it for handwashing - does an excellent job of cleaning shirt collars.
It's a perfect solution for travellers, and as you can get it from L'Occitane and other upmarket stores, it's perfect for FTers too! Kind to your clothes, kind to your hands...
(I note here that I wouldn't use, nor advise to use, other soaps to wash clothes with)

I had coworkers who did this once. They went through security and got pulled aside for secondary screening, and questioned about it, because apparently the screener thought it was drugs! So make sure you use a type that you can easily prove isn't something illicit, to prevent delays.

Amazon has them
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_hp...tergent+packet
if the link doesn't work, just search for laundry detergent packet, nine types.
Oh, by the way, don't store them where it's humid if you get the toss in the wash types, over time the dissolving thing dissolves. Not that I've ever done that and had to chip through a mass of rock hard detergent or anything.
