What are the world's most visited cities?

Does anyone know of a list? Google isn't helping too much here (perhaps I am just searching using the wrong terms). I can find most visited countries, Europe's and America's most visited cities, but not a global list.

Does anyone have any ideas?

The question, as posed, would be difficult to answer without more details.

What does "visit" mean? Do people who make day trips count? What about people from the suburbs making evening trips to the theater? Do 4 day trips count twice as much as 2 day trips?

I do not have a definition that I need/want to work with. Basically, I am looking for any data at all that might exist on the subject.

Do you (or anyone else) know how people define 'visit' when they are discussing most visited cities?

Las Vegas with its 125,000 hotel rooms.

In fact, US Dept. of Commerce lists Vegas as only the 6th most visited in the US. Their list (with no definition of "visited") is:

1 New York City
2 Los Angeles
3 Miami
4 Orlando
5 San Francisco
6 Las Vegas
7 Oahu/Honolulu
8 Washington, DC
9 Chicago
10 Boston

Google "most visited cities"

Thanks; I did try those search terms on Google, but still can't find any list of the world's major tourist cities/most visited cities. There are plenty of lists ranking the US, and a few ranking Europe, but so far I can't see any global ranking. This seems rather strange - I had imagine that this is fairly important data... Again, any pointers in the right direction are much appreciated.

I'll go with Paris, which claims 30m visitors per year.

I don't think any other city can top that.

I guess you really need to determine what a visit is. ATL had over 85 million passengers pass through it's airport alnone last year. I wouldn't think these constiute vistits. But each person did technically enter the city of Atlanta and contriubuted to our tax revenue along the way. :)

I don't think you can reasonably call an airport transfer a city "visit". That's a momentary presence.

According to
http://www.lvcva.com/meetings/servic...egas-facts.jsp

"More than 133,000 hotel and motel rooms in Las Vegas offer a wide selection for any budget. Most are located within four miles of the Las Vegas Convention Center."

I imagine the number of new hotel rooms grows daily!

If I had to guess, it'd be New York or Paris.

It could be one of those two, or possibly Kenosha, Wisconsin -- home of the Mars' Cheese Castle.
