Sitting here in SFO waiting for our gate. Guy in 3H pulls out his nail clippers and starts clipping. I'm in 4F watching in disbelief. Nails flying everywhere...seat back pockets, etc. One of the most disgusting things I've seen in a while.
Is it just me or is that plain rude? I'm already disgusted by all the funk in between the tray table armrests. Now this?

This thread is more suited for TravelBuzz so I'm sending it to a new home.

Please follow at it's new location.

Thanks.

Yes, that is disgusting. Not something that should be done in public.

Either way, that's an absolutely repulsive behavior.

Saw this once during boarding...Guy is sitting in the aisle, clipping his nails onto the TRAY. Then, sweeps the clippings off onto the floor and closes the tray. Another passenger then arrives and it is HER seat that he is in....so he moves over to the middle seat.

I found a way to get the gal's attention and let her know what happened so that she did not use her tray...

Anybody who clips their nails on a plane is disgusting.

ugh!

I would have asked him to stop, particularly since you mention that nails were flying all over the place. Unacceptable - some people just don't get it.

Any action that involves things coming off of one's body is best reserved for the privacy of your own home. Or at least the restroom.

Fly4SCUBA Jul 16, 2007 3:53 pm

Not appropriate!

Disgusting? Repulsive? While I agree it shouldn't be done on a plane, I'm puzzled at some of the responses here. Some of y'all seem far too easy to put off. I can think of some genuinely disgusting and repulsive behaviors, and would classify nail clipping as mildly offensive.

Nasty. :td:

My other pet peeve at the moment is that kind of snorting. It is almost like the opposite to blowing one's nose. Absolutely foul. I was in a meeting at work last week and this guy was doing it every couple of minutes for a good hour  I was wincing every time it happened yet he continued to do it.

I have always wondered what people were trying to accomplish when they do the snort thing. Anyone? Do they even realize they're doing it?

And yes, the nail clipping should be reserved for the privacy of one's home....

Speaking of nails.. I can't stand it when women paint their nails on flights.

maclover Jul 16, 2007 5:36 pm

Don't get me wrong, but I've seen these nail clipping and painting on the plane just in the U.S. ...
