Do It!
Some of the air travel I've taken to see concerts:
IAD-LHR for a gig in Hyde Park. IAD-MAN for a gig at the MEN Arena (with train trips to Newcastle, Birmingham, Bradford, and Wolverhampton for additional gigs.) IAD-LAX for a gig at the Hollywood Bowl IAD-SAN for gigs at the Sports Arena and Cox Arena SFO-LAS for a gig at the MGM Grand IAD-YVR for a gig at the PNE IAD-AUA for the Aruba music festival I absolutely recommend traveling to see concerts if you have the opportunity. Considering Bon Jovi's fan base, I would imagine there are web sites and boards that cover exactly this topic. Take a look and see what you can find. The best thing about traveling to concerts: the people you meet. I've gone so far as to arrange group meetups prior to the shows in cities where I don't know anyone. In Philadelphia, a bar/restaurant within walking distance of the venue publicized our meetup in advance, gave us discounts on food and drinks, and asked me to bring concert DVDs so they could play them on their video system throughout the bar and restaurant while we were there. We had about 80 people there before the show and many went back after the show was over. Many were from Philly, Jersey, and New York, but we had people from Austria, Germany, the UK, and Japan. For the Queen and Paul Rodgers gig at The Meadowlands in October 2005, a friend and I put together a tailgate party that involved several hundred people from all over the US. At the time, this was one of only two concerts the band was doing in North America, so people were willing to travel there from quite a distance. We had people from all over the US, Canada, Mexico, South America, and even Australia and Japan. We invited the Queen Fan Club from the UK who sent over an entire busload. Everyone had a good time sharing food, drinks, and "I met Freddie Mercury" stories. It was great fun. |
>The Police in DEN will be the next one
Saw the Police show last night - It was GREAT. The papers were full of stories of people who had flow in from Calgary, Edmonton, Oregon etc. Cheers, Geoff Glave Vancouver, Canada |
