I try to avoid LHR like the plague....but I'm stuck flying back and forth b/w ORD & BOS which both are AWFUL in the winter, and then ORD is usually a mess with T-Storms at least once a week in the summer. Moving out to SFO next year, which should (I hope?) be better?
OAK and SJC have much better on-time records, and OAK is about the same time from downtown San Francisco as SFO is. |
While I have on occasion tried to pick a more interesting itinerary, usually we just choose the lowest fare and either wait or rush through whichever airport it connects at. :)

I fly out of ORD so I can't avoid it (I refuse to fly out of MDW because of distance and traffic.)
I only fly non-stop so any delays at ORD will not cascade on me. |
i am finding that AA out of DFW is quite prone to delays. Even on segments where WN has ON-FREAKING-TIME flights from DAL to the same destination!!! The only times I fly are generally evenings (sunday night and thursday night), and these seem to be the ones most likely to be weather-ed.

Usually, I avoid LRH, LAX and ORD......and I've managed to stay out of LAX for about a decade.
My attempts to avoid ORD have failed lately: getting rerouted through it twice, and having it as destination soon. Also, the LRH scheme has failed with having it as destination recently.... But to the original question: yes :) When going to SF, I sometimes pick SJO over SFO, although SFO is not too bad.... |
I avoid ORD. I find that when they need a plane, or the airport is having problems the ORD-MKE flight is always the first canceled because they can just bus the pax to MKE:td:
|
The airports I frequent are: LGA, JFK, EWR, ORD, IAD, and LHR. Enough said?

SJO is quite a hike to downtown SF... SJC is much closer

Absolutely. I stopped flying US Air a few years ago to avoid PHL...
Unless something in the scheduling is very compelling I avoid PHL like the plague. I will spend $600 more to use ABE. I have wasted enough of my OWN TIME on that miserable excuse of an airport. |
