Surprising FlightMemory statistics

There's a thread on FlightMemory the site, but how about posting some of the more interesting things you discovered after entering your information.

I have four:
1. In my lifetime, I have flown to the moon and back, and twenty times around the world.
2. Shanghai and SFO are in my top ten aiport lists, but not any of my top ten routes.
3. Half of my total flights have been on an Airbus 319 or 320.
4. I've only gotten stuck on Southwest five times. :p

I love numbers. :D

I have a depressingly number of flights on props, although more on 7x7s (747, 777, 767 and 737).

The map needs a zoom - some parts are a big blob of airports and routes.

Agreed. You should be able to refocus geographically. The other thing on my wishlist is being able to see entire lists, not just the top ten.

How long did it take you to input your lifetime flying stats? And how do you possibly remember all of that? I was ready to quit after entering just my flights for 2007 so far. I couldn't find a way to input raw data into the system.

I supsect inputting my lifetime flights was easier to put in than some on here, since I m only 27 and fly only for leisure, so had only 190 flights to put in

I found out my top airport is AMS with 29, funny enough, I never lived anywhere close to AMS.
26.3% of flights on CO
737 and 757 are most common planes, but the B1900 comes in 3rd
74 airports, 28 airlines in 30 countries.
172/190 flights in Y
10.01x around the earth, and just made it to the moon. Hopefully it wont take me another 27 years to get back :D

Longest flight, DXB-EWR, 6855mi
Shortest flight, MHH-TCB, 25mi

I also gave up entering mine once I got back to about 2000 (and ignoring a hundred or so back and forth flights). It took me a long time to enter in all my flights.

But it is worth, to spend some time with this nice tool.

I've probably got about 15 hours invested in the venture. I only started heavy flying in 2000, and I kept all my boarding passes from 2000 to early 2004. Prior to 2000 I recreated from memory. 2004, 2005, and most of 2006 I was commuting from DEN-SAN on UA and F9. I'm missing detail on 2005, so I'll probably call UA and get an activity dump.

How do you get a seat listing "top ten?"

I like the program .. but wish they would add in some features like 'awards used' that can be tracked separately.

If I try and use it to track the airline mileage counter ... the award trips mess up my numbers.

Except for the neat map, I prefer my spreadsheet.

tfung May 28, 2007 4:57 pm

After inputting all my flights since 2000.. I think I have to stop flying... :p

Kiwi Flyer May 28, 2007 8:15 pm

Indeed tfung that is an impressive looking map.

Here's mine (incomplete).

tfung May 29, 2007 9:45 am

wow.. you really need a domestic NZ map... :D ^
