Gift to Agent for a Good Deed?
 

I just had an airline agent at the airport really go out of her way to give me a great seat.

I would like to give her a box of candy or something else on the way back, both because I really am grateful, and to assure similar service in the future.

Anyone have any experience with this? Will the agent get in trouble? Is it a good idea?

An agent was exceptionally kind to my elderly mother. I gave him a Starbucks card the next time I saw him, and expressed my genuine gratitude.

Surely a big thank you for a job well done is good enough? And if genuine doesn't have to be said with material goods.

Another tipping thread! As is often the case, part of the motivation is a concealed bribe.... to ensure you get priority treatment in the future..

Everybody wants "great" seats.

I think the more subtle (gift card/small envelope versus large box) is probably better if you intend the gift for the one person. The box of chocolate is fine but it'll almost positively end up being shared.

Sounds like you want to bribe her.

Not everyone can get the best seat on an airplane, no matter how much "out of the way" an agent goes in securing a seat.

Anyway, a Starbucks card seems to be a better present than a box of candy if you want to express your gratitude.
