Most Expensive Tickest ever

What has been you experience on the most expensive ticket? I don't mean if you have been denied boarding and had to wait, but what was the highest FARE ever paid?

Would be nice to know the upper limits as we have seen those 0 dollar fares in the past

Well, last year I had an F award ticket MAN-KUL-AKL and return; it priced out at $21k on Expedia! Didn't actually pay this, used miles.

I was offered a chance to redeem this award ticket on NW last year, it was only $1729, but over 300 million miles were needed too. Note that the first half of the itnerary is in coach as well. Ugh.

What the Russians charge to go to the ISS.

Nothing else comes close. Thread over.

BA offered me the chance to upgrade a $750 IAD-AMS-IAD from WT+ to CW for just $9300 or something.

Personally the most expensive ticket I've known the price of was $9900 one way on Concorde, LHR-JFK in September 2002.
I've done LHR-LAX-LHR in BA F back in 2001 but my father paid for the ticket so I don't know how much it was. It is one of the more expensive BA routes though, probably more than $9900 return.

Last Sunday I had to get a last min fare from SLC-CLT (Mon Morning Trave), it priced at 1700 on NWA when I called to change my flight, just took a credit and went to DL and got a RT F fare for 939RT.

Wow that was quite a deal if it is only slightly more than $9900. The cheapest quote I've seen for that route is $14,000. How fares have increased dramatically from 01 to 07.

Does it count if my company paid for most of it? Last year, I had a RT trip in BA F YVR-LHR-CPT and it cost $12K USD. My company paid $9000 and I paid the remaining $3K because previously, I had never tried BA F and wanted to know all the commotion regarding that and at the same time, did not want to stretch the corporate budget out too much. It was for a business trip BTW.

I had to do a change ticket coming back from HKG (in BF). The lady on the phone was very nice to me and geve me a great seat due to the expensive ticket.. Was confused by that so logged into CO and it said the fee was $21000!!!! Almost had a heart attack. Figured out later that it was in HK dollars, not US. Whew!

It was probably way more than $9900.

My father used to fly the route every other week for a number of years in J, sometimes in F, and he showed me one paper ticket he had LHR-LAX-LHR and it was over £10,000 return! IIRC it was around the time of the Oscars.

I spent close to $9000 on a One World RTW in J a few years ago.

It was interesting in that it was over the max limit on both my credit cards, so I had to get the money out of the bank in cash and walk it to the desk. It was quite a production retrieving so much of my own money in cash...

I received a Concorde round-trip flight JFK to LHR as a company award one year. It was 1993 and the flight coupon said the trip was $16,000. I have no way of knowing if that was the real cost or not, but it sure scared the hell out of me 24 years ago:eek: .

Any ticket on Southwest.

Flying them just sucks the life out of me.

Slightly off topic, but my most expensive domestic coach fare was over $1,800. It was a 3 day notice trip from MCO-OAK on United. When my return plans changed, United wanted $150 MORE to come home a couple of days early. Luckily it was a refundable fare, I found a $450 one way FC fare on HP, and got a $900 refund on the unused return, saving $600 (450 orig fare diff + $150 additional) to return FC vs. coach. And technically, it was against company policy of not buying FC tickets.

$16,000 for a ticket that took me around North America, into the Canadian Arctic (all in J) but not overseas... this was in 2001.
