The Netherlands is still issuing 64 page passports. (I have one, 47 pages full after 2 years)
|
The US Government is pushing a lot of places for fewer visa pages in passports ... in order to facilitate more routine "lookout" searches for names that might not clear. Also, a growing number of FSOs are telling US citizens that additional pages being added to the passport will be done "overnight" when it can still -- like before -- be done the same day.

Germany also still offers 48-page passports.

And those are not biometric, either. That will change eventually.

What I would like to add which is different to the 'new pages or not' discussion is: Whatever you do, DONT 'hope for the best', at least not if you travel a lot to destinations where you don't know the rules. Although there may be several countries where the immigration officer will gladly put his stamp on top an old one, there are many countries where you will get turned back if there is no space for the stamp. I have even heard that people have been refused entry because they did not have a full clear page in their passport (don't ask me why - these rules often don't make sense)

SmilingBoy. First time that a passport cost me as much as a cheapo intra europe flight ;) |
the US Embassy in BKK is pretty efficient in adding extra pages. Have had it done on 4 sep occasions and never had to wait more than 45 mins. And best of all, unlike most things from the government, its FREE :)

Correct, as well as quiet expensive!
First time that a passport cost me as much as a cheapo intra europe flight ;) A standard UK passport costs £66 (USD130, EUR86) Same day service costs £108 (USD213, EUR140) 32-pages only. Pages cannot be added. 48-page passports (which I've half-filled after 3 years) are not available "for the time being". |
Is there a requirement that your pages must be mostly filled up in order to get more pages added?

Anyone have experience with the US Embassy in Dublin? I'm down to 3-4 blank pages, and need to add a third set of extra pages to a 48 page passport. Are they likely to do it? I tried e-mailing, but no response....

I'm a sucker for novelty stamps on my passport, so I have stamps from Mars, the Moon, and the Big Dipper (done at Kennedy Space Center), and some stamps from "The End of The World" (Ushuaia, Argentina).

We had new pages added in Dublin last fall. It was free and painless. The only thing you need to do is check with the Embassy and see what hours they are open for public services. IIRC, it is only from about 8-11 or something like that. The cool thing is that the Embassy is witnin a comfortable and pleasant walking distance from downtown. |
