carry on question
Question for you more experienced travellers--I am flying to see family tomorrow morning and would prefer to bring only carry-on items. I understand the rules regarding liquids and gels and their sizes. My question is what about food? We are bringing down 3 boxes of candy for relatives and we'd prefer to carry everything on and not check bags. Will I be allowed to bring those on or will I have to check a bag just for that?

Boxes? What size? If they fit in your carryon and are not liquid or "gel" like, then it'll be fine.
If you're going to being your regular rollaboard, personal item and THEN want to bring large boxes of candy, well, that'll be a problem. |
If the candies are gel-type, TSA will enjoy them :)
Hard candies are fine. I've personally carried small See's chocolates boxes (gifts for f/a's and g/a's) through with no issues. No experience with anything else. My wife had a small sealed jar of jam (4oz) taken from her at HPN recently. Good luck! Pat |
I guess best to not risk it. It's not like tomorrow is a heavy travel day so I'd expect chances of lost luggage to be minimized.

bigrob: Since your question is a general one, not specific to UA, I'm going to move it to the Travel Safety/Security forum. You should get lots of answers there (although I think you already got the right answer - as long as not gels or liquids, you should be just fine). There will still be a redirect here.
