Italy Flights
I've been reading around here for years, sadly unable to travel as much as I'd like to. Now have the occasion and ability to head to Italy in October (14th-23rd) with the fiance.
The cheapest I've found is RDU-VCE for around $900 (total)on Orbitz. Any thoughts on getting this a little cheaper? I'm open to other arrival airports if necessary. Thanks in advance for your help! |
Welcome to FT! I think a travel agent is your best bet. They have the tools to search through a lot of options very quickly.

Welcome to FT!
When it comes to Italy travel I automatically think of Slow Travel .They have much info on Italy. Fodor's Italy forum is good on this as well. I checked Expedia and their cheapest is about the same. I'd,personally, book with AA and make sure I get the FF miles. Try Slow Travel, you might find some ideas. Considering the generic nature of your question,I'll move this to TravelBuzz |
You don't mention any particular ff program, which could be helpful in terms of point accumulation and status perks.
The two us carriers that fly direct to VCE are Us Air and Delta via phl and jfk or atl. The Us Air connection is better in terms of timing, and there is a total flight time of 12h 50 min via PHL which is generally around 900. The DL option is generally around 1000 via ATL but takes longer due to cnx time. Personally I would stick with the non stops as they are extremely convenient overall and save you going through a hassle at a hub. You will pick up a few points on the trip (10000 min) so it would be worthwhile to take this into consideration. Given the current travel restrictions, delays, and cancellations, I would avoid transit through London if you can as it is unsure how long these will last. |
Also try farecompare.com and kayak.com, and don't forget ITA. Oh and 1800flyeurope.com

Thanks for the greeings and input all! I am a Delta Skymiles guy, so probably will end up going with them. It seems like a good time to pay a little more for the convenience etc...
Several sites here I haven't heard of, so will check those out too. Thanks again! |
kdc123, welcome to FT. If you decide that you'd like to focus on travel on DL or its alliance partners, send a private msg. or email to one of us moderators and we'll move your post to the DL forum for more focused discussion there. Ocn Vw 1K, Co-Mod, TBuzz

Welcome to FT. You don't mention accomodations, but be sure to check venere.com for hotel reviews before booking. You might also look into packages to save money.
