How loyal are you to one airline?
How loyal are you to one airline? Perhaps it can be measured by what percentage of your air travel is done on that airline, versus any other.
For me, my most frequently flown airline over the past several years is probably only about 20-25% of my air travel (there are three airlines that are about that level for me -- AS, WN, UA). The rest has been scattered among many others: NW, LH, B6, AC, CP, CO, DL, AA, and a few others I don't remember. |
Ask DL, I am just as loyal to them as they were to me. ;)

Always and always AA... if they do not fly there then I will fly to the closest airport served by AA and drive if I have to... in extreme cases I will fly a OW partner if needed... My last resort is another airline. Period. Fly AA.

I try to stick with AA, where I have a good chance of making Platinum this year, but there are times it just didn't make sense. Because of pretty steep fare differences, I took other airlines to MIA and SJU this year- a lot of miles from MCI. I'm also bypassing AA for a vacation to Scotland because the fares were too high and by taking CO I can avoid transferring in LHR, which is probably about the worst sirport for international connections I've ever experienced.
But, venturing outside of AA hasn't been all bad. Sometimes I get fed on domestic flights and I've actually encountered FAs who pass through the aisles MULTIPLE times during a medium-length domestic flight with beverage service. Remarkable. |

I've since tempered this a bit when the time to do so does not make sense or if there is a LARGE price diff. -- |
i stick to an alliance. pick a US based FF program as my primary and
mostly fly their alliance partners based out of some other country. While in US.. I picked CO for most part.. now it will be UA |
CO all the way unless there is a flight that uses a RJ at which time I'll check on WN.

I fly AA exclusively, with the occasional exception of a AA partner codeshare flight (e.g., Hawaiian, British) to get to my final destination. Of course, all of my flying is for pleasure, so I don't "have" to be anywhere and can "afford" to be selective. If AA doesn't go there at a price I'm willing to pay, I don't go. If there is some place I really want to go (e.g., the Cow Do in EZE), and I can't afford or refuse to pay the outrageous fare, I plan early and get an award ticket.
The only other exception is that I do collect UA miles (with my Chase Visa check card and grocery miles) and every few years, I get a UA award ticket. |
I am a huge fan of Continental, but I am no longer loyal to the airline. I have had a series of customer service issues that encouraged me to shop elsewhere. I earned Platinum status on American Airlines. From this year on, I will split the business between the two companies.

Mine is a real mixture. Some destinations only served by one or two airlines (and not the same ones to each place).
|
So far this year, I've flown DL, AA, HP, AF, CO, NW, WN, AC, UA and AS. I fly a lot for business, and I need to use flights that are cheap, but get me there in a reasonable time. I'm still going to make Gold on Delta, maybe even Platinum.

I'm extremely loyal to UA. Won't fly any other line unless I can't get there on UA or a partner airline. If a partner, I keep my miles with UA. Keeping my miles in one place makes them add up to upgrades and free tickets much faster.

I am semi loyal to QF but very loyal to OW. My only problem is I do have a soft spot for Virgin Blue and VS.
|
My loyalty leans towards UA because I like them better, however, I also have status on AA so I give them a fair share of business...especially on Ted routes. ;)
