Calling Overseas

I am always amazed at the different ringtones when calling overseas. I tried calling a hotel in Manila and the rings sounded like an ambulance siren. Some just have a double ring etc. Any funny ring tones you heard when calling overseas? What was the longest you waited before the phone started ringing?

Any funny calls you made overseas that you laugh about to this day i.e woke someone up in an Asian hotel room at 3 AM their time when you thought it was 6 AM?

Was on the receiving end of this: I once made the mistake of leaving my cell phone on while in Beijing. At 3am on early Monday morning, someone kept calling again and again. Woke up to finally take the call and it turned out to be this real estate agent (and believe me: over the phone, I made it very clear to her that I wasn't interested in the property she was representing). From then on, I always switch off my cell and give my hotel contact info to those who might need to contact me in case of emergencies.

I did get a call in Hong Kong at 3am from a friend at a Bolton Wanderers game, holding up his phone so I could hear the crowd sing "(Is This The Way To) Amarillo"...

Otherwise, the ringing tone that still gets me is the one in North America. Usually, for me, one ring means 'internal call': you expect two for an external.

At my home, we have 2 separate phone numbers. When the phone rings, it is either A) 1 ring = the first number, B) 2 rings = the second number, or C) 3 rings = a long distance call coming in! :p
