nyc-bos prices

Recently i was looking to book a trip from new york-boston in late june. After checking a few sites i came up with the lowest fare of aprox $180 on aa lga-bos. As i went later in the date the price rose obviously bc of avail to the high $200's. A check of co shows the cheapest flight is $315 but most are $385! I know there has been a lot of talk of the airlines raising prices lately but this is pretty high i think. I flew lga-bos in jan 06 and it was about $120. Is something going on with this route that there is much higher demand or something? $385 to travel 50 min?

Delta has a cheap JFK-BOS fare (T class fare of $100 + tax = $120.60 al-in) on Comair CRJs.......but due to limited capacity, they tend to sell out 1-2 months in advance on peak days such as Friday and Sunday.

The Delta Shuttle also offers decent LGA-BOS fares if one is willing/able to purchase their ticket over 21 days in advance (U class fare of $138 + tax = $158.60 all-in).

there's also amtrak (Acela Express, about 4hr trip time, but beware, trains are only on time 75% of the time) as well as LimoLiner. Perhaps not air, but cheaper and often nearly as fast.

Amtrak's prices for Acela Express (about 3 1/2 hours) run about $80-$100 O/W, and regional trains (about 4 1/2 hours) run about $55-$90 O/W. And they run downtown to downtown, saving the commute time on both ends and the security and wait time - thus it may be about the same time.

i love jetblue and will probably end up taking this flight but lga is just so much easier for me. Ive taken acela before and will never again, they are constantly late, the prices are higher than some airfare now and the limoliner just isnt for me. Thanks for reminding me about delta, ill check them out. I still dont understand whats going on at co though. can someone clarify it for me?

and of course, there is always the Fung Wah bus - $15 one way, about 4 hours from Chinatown to Chinatown, with a pit stop at Mcdonalds.

http://www.fungwahbus.com I can attest that they move right along as the bus has passed me on both I-90 and I-84. Timewise, may be similar with security and gettting to airport/downtown, but less comfortable, no doubt.

Has anyone used LimoLiner? I've never heard of it, but sounds intriguing... and their site seems kinda vague in some respects.

See them on the highway lots of times (we commute that way every day) and the bus always has people on it. Don't know anything else about them.

The Boston Globe recently did a review on Limoliner. They said it was great going BOS-NYC but coming back to BOS, they hit traffic and were not happy. Wireless internet, free snacks, tv/movies, comfortable seating.

Limoliner is apparently quite nice; I really like the wireless feature. I've taken the Fung Wah a number of times and it's always been quite comfortable and quiet, mostly full of college students.
