Sleeping at Schipol

I will be arriving at Schipol/AMS this Friday May 19. I am wondering if anyone knows the best way to store luggage and hop a train to visit a coffeeshop. I am trying to save money on a hotel as I am only there for one night and I have to catch a plane to Malta Saturday morning. I have not been to an airport where I have had to store luggage so I am wondering how it works with the security and all, if I have to leave it in a certain spot so I can retrieve it for my departure. Thank you for any help.

There are pay lockers in Terminal 3.. depending on how much luggage you have, you may need to get a couple.

Hop on a train to Centraal Station in Amsterdam, and you're walking distance to many coffeeshops nearby.

There are luggage lockers throughout Schiphol Airport.

The best place to sleep is near the meditation center and the KLM Crown Lounge (no. 41). Just head upstairs past the casino. There are some great designer chairs that resemble business class seats in a public area there.

To get to the city center, take a train directly from the station at Schiphol to Centraal Station. 15-20 minutes each way. €3,60 each way.

Everything you could want to know about the coffeeshops in Amsterdam can be found here.

I believe that in order to sleep in this area the OP would need a boarding pass for his onward flight... which he may or may not be able to get the evening before departure.
