Validation Stickers

Hey everyone,

I had brought up a similar issue earlier on, but I now have more information...

I was wondering if anyone could please explain to me how validation stickers work. I am currently holding a ticket for a YYZ-BA-LHR-EK-DXB flight. However, the YYZ-LHR coupon has an X in front of it (meaning no stopover allowed, I was told.)

I apparantly have to pay the taxes of landing in Heathrow, and then a validation sticker will be applied since the fare allows unlimited free stopovers. Is this literally a sticket that they add on?

I also want to change the LHR-DXB segment from EK to VS (this is allowed according to the fare rules, and the fare doesn't change.) I was told that this also needs a validation sticker. Where would I get this done? Would I go to the issuing airline's (BA?) office? Would I need to get the ticket re-written to show the coupon as VS OPEN rather than EK OPEN?

Cheers

Yes, however, some airlines (such as BA) no longer allow stickers to be used IIRC...

It's probably easiest to have it done at BA's office. However, the airline which is to operate the current (next) flight, should be able to do it as well.

Thanks for thr reply. When you say "stickers can't be used" do you mean stickers don't need to be used, or you can't make a change that might require a sticker?

Cheers

They may need to either re-issue the entire ticket, or keep the original ticket as-is and provide you with a print-out, showing the changes...

thanks for the clarification.

I now feel incredibly stupid, because I just remembered that I also changed flights on the outbound. They ripped out the BA coupon, and issued an e-ticket for that portion.

Cheers
