Snn - Bos - Dfw - Lbb

I don't know if this is the correct forum to post this in... please move if it's wrong. It's my first time flying from Shannon to Lubbock via Boston and Dallas with AA. I've previously went DUB - EWR - IAH - LBB.

I'm just basically looking for your experiences in BOS and DFW... good or bad.

Cheers

I might have a trip to Lubbock soon from Boston- how is CoEx through IAH? How is the Lubbock airport? To get downtown, would you recommend taxi or rental car or ?
Boston AA terminal B is typically crowded, not very modern, and not too pleasant, but not horrible either. There's a decent amount of food/services, including the club. However, I believe international arrivals come in at terminal E, which is slightly nicer although I haven't been through customs at BOS so not sure what to expect if your flight comes through there. Connecting between terminals, I'd just walk, or you could take a shuttle bus which will take you some time.

With the new Skytrain connecting terminals, DFW is pretty easy to get around now. You might want to check out the AA forum here on FT...lots of info there on AA.

I don't remember much of COEx out of IAH, I slept for most of it but I do remember it was a bumpy flight because of thunder showers. Service was nice and friendly they came around 2 or more times with drinks and I think snacks too. One thing about it was we were in a queue of about 8 planes flying out. The flight was around 9.30 at night. Coming back we left LBB around 8am and were giving a muffin and some orange juice.

LBB is ok, small and quiet. Quiet a bit out from town too.

I was staying in Clovis, NM so I don't know anything about downtown Lubbock so I can't help you out on that, sorry.

Any more things anyone can share about the airports??

In BOS you'll arrive at the int'l arrivals terminal (Terminal E). Customs/Passport Control in BOS is a hit-or-miss affair, worst at the early afternoon European arrival wave. Your baggage can be sent through to AA domestic. You'll need to take a landside bus to the AA wing of terminal B and re-clear security there. I don't know that terminal very well, so you'll need help from others for that.

Connecting to LBB usually occurs in B terminal. This is an easy "skytrain" connection from other terminals. Total transfer time should only take you around 15 minutes.

I'm reporting back on my journey... a bit late! We (myself [19] and 15 yr old cousin) went in June to visit family...

Shannon was very easy to get through... I was selected for a random bag search while checking in. Customs were very hard on me asking loads of questions about how long I am going for, why, who am I staying with, do i have a job, where do i work, how much do i get paid, when did I last work, was i in college, phone numbers etc (I'm 19, so they probably thought I was going over to stay)

SNN-BOS was uneventful, Chronicles of Narnia and Catch Me If You Can was showing on the TV's. I fell asleep for 3 hours after dinner, which was very bland rice and chicken. They came around several times offering more drinks which would you expect. I still prefer CO for travelling transatlantic - mostly because of the personal in-flight entertainment system.

We waited a good half hour in BOS for our bags... then both of us were called over for another random bag search - probably because they were packed tight of our own clothes etc and sweets and food for the cousins (they miss the Irish food!) BOS was easy enough to get around, but Terminal B was very old fashioned and we ended up going to Terminal C for something to eat.

BOS-DFW was again boring, we watched Lost and Desperate Housewives on my laptop before the battery died then tried to sleep. We got a snack box on this flight - nice selection, I think we got pringles, crackers, cheese, grapes.

DFW is a lovely airport, easy to get around as ye said because of the train. Very modern and well laid out.

We had an hour wait in DFW so we got a sandwich to eat on the flight to LBB. Arrived in lubbock 10 minutes ahead of schedule but the bags took a while to come out. LBB is very small, and the luggage carousel is actually in the public part of the airport. My cousin's bag got lost along the way too... put it was delivered to the house in Clovis the next day.

----------

On the return journey, there were 6 of us (my Granny and 3 other cousins who came out the week after us)

LBB-DFW was delayed 45mins, we just made it on the DFW-BOS flight with 10mins to spare. My poor Granny was in a rush and basically ran from gate to gate!

DFW-BOS resulted in us having to change planes, we were out on the runway about the take off when the pilot told us we were going back to the gate because of engine problems. Better he realised there than in the sky!

BOS-SNN was really quite, none of us were near eachother so most of us slept most of the way. I forget what the meal was, musn't have been that nice. Coming down in SNN we were greeted by rain - much different than the 100degrees we were used to for the last 3 weeks!

While we were over there, we drove to Dallas for a few days. 8 hours drive!! But it was cool too see the landscapes.

I'm planning to go back again in January - CO this time!

Going out in February this year. Feb16-26 SNN-EWR-IAH-LBB with CO - can't wait!
