Razor allowed in Hand Luggage
Is a normal safety razor (i.e. a Mach 3) allowed in hand luggage or is this deemed something that could be converted into a weapon?

I had some Gillette Sensor Excel blades confiscated flying out of Mexico (PVR) on one occasion in 2004, but it hasn't been an issue on two subsequent flights.

They're on sale in the Duty Free shop in TLV (which is after Security) so Israel obviously has no problem with them.

Thanks all for clarifying that. I normally carry an electric but the electric broke down in the middle of a prolonged biz trip; an excellent opportunity to try out the latest blade technology.

I've never had a problem with a safety razor on-board (even in the Philippines as noted above - well, admittedly two of the airports were hand-search only!) Only twin blades seem to be (quite rightly) problematic.

I always carry a razor with me on longhaul. Never a problem.
