Slightly off-topic but...

Best reasons to fly bulkhead are:

Seeing the forlorn looks on other pax faces as they walk past you on the way to their middle seat; or row 50+ :D

If you're upfront (row 15 on UA 757's P.S., you get to deplane 10 minutes faster than the pax all the way in the back. :D

The bulkhead seats on the UA mainline Airbus twins are my favorite seats. There is so much leg room that you can get up without the middle or aisle seat passengers getting up. Also, there is no galley or lavatory to worry about.

I like bulkheads because I do not like when someone reclines their seat fully and I do not have my seat reclined. Sometimes I have to recline my seat just to be able to hold a book at the right distance for my eyesight without hitting the reclined seat in front of me. Also when I use my laptop, a bulkhead is vital having once had the notebook lid cought in the recess where the tray table is stowed when the passanger in front of me reclined their seat and I did not move my computer fast enough and messed up the screen.

I am willing to accept the proximity to lavatorys since I P Freely and galleys are also acceptable. The bassinet thing is a real bummer almost as bad a getting an upgrade only to have a lap child next to me.

I almost ALWAYS get a bulkhead seat in economy on UA. I'd say I've been in the aisle bulkhead on at least 50% of my flights. I wouldn't want it any other way. I can stretch my legs out, no one to recline into me, and one of the first off the plane. Not to jinx myself, but I've never had a screaming baby or family w/young children in my row. Never. Possibly that's because of UA's E+ access to premier members... dunno. But I find it very hard to imagine any negatives of a bulkhead outweighing that of elsewhere in coach.

Again, hope I didn't jinx myself. Next week, flying IAD-AMS in bulkhead biz.

There's a reason why SeatGuru exists.

I always check here before buying and I have always avoided bad bulkhead seats.

I like that the armrest can't be raised. One, it keeps the attachment from my Bose QC1s from sliding into someone else's seat or onto the floor. Two, it means that I don't have to worry about people who can't or don't want to put the armrest down.

If it's an exit row, it also means that I don't have to worry about sitting next to a loud child.

If the flight is loug-haul or overnight, some of the OP's arguements about noise and activity are easily resolved with an eye mask and earplugs.

Depends on the plane and the airline. Some are better than others. Some are horrible.

I flew Northwest SFO-DTW, and was able to snag a bulkhead seat. Much to my surprise, they had a cut out along the bottom of the bulkhead wall for a little more legroom. Moreover, they had a largish shelf cut into the bulkhead with a sliding door. I was very surprised at the thoughtful touches for this row of seating.
