reverse flight finagle prices
 

A friend recently got an airline tix for about 1/2 price with someone who did something with the reverse flight to get a better price. Does anyone know what this is and how to do it? Thx

If we are talking about frequent flights in the US between the same two cities, perhaps he is talking about nesting tickets so that it seems like there is a Saturday night stay.

This is best done on separate airlines since many tickets prohibit the use of nested tickets.

S/he may have been ineligible for an inexpensive round trip fare, perhaps because of minimum stay requirements, so s/he may have gotten two round trips with longer stays and used the first part of each. As long as they're with different airlines, this is for all practical purposes impossible to detect. If s/he doesn't make a habit of it, and didn't get them through a travel agent who books this sort of trip a lot, there is likely no risk.
