1st Time RTW for work -- advice?
Hello.
I will be doing my first RTW trip next week. I'll be flying biz class on United and Lufthansa. This is a work trip and my itinerary is as follows: Mon 3/13 depart 11am SFO-ORD Tues 3/14 and Wed 3/15 work Thurs 3/16 depart 12pm ORD-NRT Fri 3/17 arrive NRT 5pm Sat 3/18 and Sun 3/19 work Mon 3/20 depart 10:30 am NRT-FRA, arrive 2:00 pm Tues 3/21 and Wed 3/22 work Wed 3/22 depart 11pm FRA-CDG, arrive 12:00am Thurs 3/23 and Fri 3/24 work Sat 3/25 depart 12:30 pm CDG-IAD, arrive 3:15pm Sat 3/25 depart 5pm IAD-SFO, arrive 8pm So, what advice do you have? :) I'm pretty good about sleeping on planes and would prefer not to take a sleeping pill (have never done that before and don't know how I'll react) or drink (just don't like to drink on planes). When should I eat, sleep, stay awake, etc.? Advice appreciated! -- ks |

While downing the bubby, you should also toast to the mileage gods that put all your work commitments in major Star Alliance hub cities (except CDG...). Not connecting makes an itin like this much more acceptable.
A tough trip, but not too hard in C really. What I usually do on itins like this is to start thinking in the next timezone as soon as I am on my way to the airport. So, for your ORD-NRT flight for example, I would stay up and work on the plane and then crash when you reach NRT. That way you'll be in decent shape to work. Of course, this is predicated on maximising work capability - if on the other hand you want to see the sights, sleep to NRT and stay out all night on arrival - it will feel like the middle of the day to you! |
Although this'll be a heck of a trip, it's not really Mileage Run oriented - instead, I'm going to move this to the the TravelBuzz forum.
