I can't take credit for this, because someone else already posted it on another thread like this, but it's good enough to repeat again:
If I'm in F, I sit there sipping my drink, watching the Y pax go by, thinking "damn, I'm glad I'm not in coach". Every now and then, a good-looking lady will walk by, at which point I think "damn, I wish I was in coach... wonder where she's sitting" That's about all there is to it :D |

Over here in your Former colony, many subscribe to the "all men are created equal" jazz of a supposedly one class society*. For this reason, transportation seating is so noticeable, almost a shock to the system, as it is one of the few times we get publicly separated into distinct classes. Call it the novelty factor. That is why we pay more attention to it than it deserves. Me? I don't care where I sit as long as I have a wide reclining seat and free drinks. :D It's not about the class, its about having enough room to fit my a**. :D 17 inch seats in Y? Ouch. *Footnote: In reality, America has two classes. You're either a Rich Republican Friend of Haliburton; or you're Not. And as people never tire of pointing out, British Airways manages to fit 4 distinct classes on a 777. OTOH the USA is entirely different. For instance, Britain's head of state is a monarch who achieves this position by being born into the right family, whereas the USA's head of state is a president, who achieves this by - oh, hang on a minute... ;) |

I thought this was going to be a thread about the situation I witnessed on Airtran of all places.
The Poacher. Some kid (20s) sits in the last first class seat on his way by. Head FA comes up to him after about 10 minutes and walks him to the back of the plane. Sure I was laughing inside. I mean to people actually know you can upgrade any ticket on Airtran for about $35? But seriously I wish the UA crew would do that to the ones that move into my E+. Back on topic its not so much that I wish I didnt have to walk through 1st most days. Its that anyone you let board early should realize they boarded early and everyone is waiting on them to move out of the aisles!!! |
The only time I feel bad walking through FC on my way to coach is when Mr. Hoosierflyer is sitting in First smirking.

Business, but not first class. It's easier to upgrade from coach to biz than it is from biz to first.

wine? champagne?
Is it still available before takeoff on international? On domestic, they only give us/them juice and water these days, while those/us cattle walk by ( / depending on whether my upgrade cleared :) ).

Yes, it's still available on international. Probably not in domestic, except UA's premium service aircraft.

In such moments, you should just hold on to your wine tighter, tilt your head towards the window, and rejoice your fortune, silently. |
