Bllizzard this weekend

Anyone flying to the mid-Atlantic this weekend? I'm SFO --> PHI Sat. night. Should be interesting. I do need to be back in S.F. Monday morning, esp. as I'm flying to Bulgaria at 2pm. :)

JoeBagodonuts Feb 10, 2006 10:18 am

I will be flying into the east coast this weekend right into the heart of the storm. This ought to be fun

I am flying EWR-PIT-PHL-MUC-ARN on Sunday afternoon. Will I have problems? Some of my connections are not very long but atleast its ok according to minimum connecting time.

I do beleive that the US flight out of PHL to MUC is the last europeanbound flight.

What if I miss a connection and need to spend the night at the airport? Will US get me a hotel? I am both UA Star Gold and LH Star Gold if that helps.

Hotel

I am flying LAX-EWR-DCA 2/11 and returning 2/12. We'll see if I actually make it to DCA! EEK!

It "should" be over in PHL by mid morning Sunday. How long it takes them to recover is another story altogether. Leaving EWR may be the bigger problem.

I'm doing SFO-JFK on Saturday evening and returning Sunday early AM.

This should be interesting!!

Yes it will. That's about the right time frame for the blizzard like conditions we're expecting here. Get out those cots, everybody! :D

Shouldn't be a prob. By Sunday afternoon, the strom will very, very likely be long gone out of Philly. I'll bet you fly into sunny skies as a matter of fact!

<Cluck, cluck!> Call me chicken. I bailed on this mileage run and rescheduled for a later date. Will lose the West Coast Bonus, but pick up the March Madness triple miles.

At my age, I no longer DO blizzards. :D

Wife and I on the 8:45 AM flight from
IAD to LGA on sunday morning.

This is going to be exciting!
To add to the fun, we are driving from BWI to IAD early Sunday morning to make the flight.

Going to be a LOT of variables in this one.

ediddy Feb 11, 2006 8:37 am

Blizard?

I was supposed to go LAS-JFK Sunday and re-scheduled for Tuesday for business reasons. Looks like it was the right thing to do indeed.

Having lived and worked in Las Vegas, Cali, and FL for the last few years I kinda forget there are such things as snow storms. :)

Javan69 Feb 11, 2006 11:12 am

The flight's in 12 hours and I haven't decided yet. Obviously if they cancel, my decision's made for me. However, I have to be back in S.F. Sunday night, or latest Mon. morning to catch a real trip to SOF, or the gf will kill me.

Javan69 Feb 11, 2006 11:18 am

Oooops, just canceled.

SanDiego1K Feb 11, 2006 11:19 am

I'm in St Lucia, waiting for my flight to San Juan. AA has rebooked everyone flying into New York, Boston and DC, and does not have availability til Monday. They are not helping with hotels in San Juan. I'm not impacted, but everyone checking in around me was.

Flaflyer Feb 11, 2006 5:12 pm

No MR tonight

6:30 EST Saturday ABC national news just said virtually everything from DC to BOS is CANCELLED.

Good luck getting home, you all. ^

sany2 Feb 11, 2006 7:06 pm

DTW-PHL tommarow, driving to Princeton, flying back monday.

Should be ok?

broccoli Feb 12, 2006 7:17 am

No one will be doing anything in BOS for some time today. At my house under one of the main landing routes, visibility is about 200 yards/meters. Wind gusts are 40+ mph and the snow is coming down at a several inches per hour rate. Staying in and relaxing.

Dodge DeBoulet Feb 12, 2006 8:18 am

Just checked, and YX214 flight out of BOS Monday morning is canceled, no doubt due to the fact that neither YX207 (crew) nor YX208 (equipment) are flying into BOS tonight . . .

So I'm taking a day off tomorrow and flying out Tuesday morning. Yay!

jg70124 Feb 12, 2006 9:23 am

Wife is on CO 60 EWR-BRU tonight.

As of 11:21 EST, Continental's web site still shows the flight as "on time". But the FAA's web site says EWR is closed (along with 6-8 others in the region) with no ETA on re-opening.

And the inbound (CO 61 BRU-EWR) was diverted to CLE. Estimated departure time from CLE was an hour ago, but plane still on the ground.

Looks like CO is sending all it's inbounds to west of the storm.

sany2 Feb 12, 2006 10:56 am

Well, flight DTW-PHL @ 6:58 was cancelled, and unable to rebook.

Cancelled trip.

kempis Feb 13, 2006 3:48 am

I am now back in Europe after an intresting return journey. My flights out of EWR was cancelled but I didnt know that until I reached the airport. When I left Philly(Yes I started my return journey there) nothing was cancelled.

When I reached the Newark trainstation the problems started. The airtran didnt work and I didnt reach the check in until 40 minutes prior to departure. While there they said that ewr was closed. So I had to take the train back to Philly again and I didnt check in for my MUC flight until 40 minutes prior to departure. I am glad that I made it.

Time to sleep.
