bla_bla What are you researching?
I'm curious about the large number of "What are you..." or "What do you think..." threads started by new member bla_bla in the past 2 days:
What was the scariest cab ride you had? What is the safest city you have travelled to? Which country, when you actually visited, was very different from what you expected? Anyone has a diplomatic passport? What does it do for you? Does travelling around the world make you appreciate your home country more? Anyone ever travelled near major drug production/distribution centers? How often do you see a male flight attendant? Is it true only 20% of americans own a passport? They're interesting questions and have elicited a lot of good discussion. But I'm wondering the subtext: are you researching an article or book, or some other work? It seems unusual for somebody to come onto any internet forum and blast out a whole slew of questions to its existing members, while disclosing little about why he/she is asking so much? Moderators: this is NOT meant to be any kind of attack or complaint against bla_bla. And I know I'm a relatively new member also. I'm just rather curious, especially because my wife does some freelance travel writing. Usually people disclose why they're asking so many questions if they're new to an existing community, or they contribute some interesting answers back. Again, just asking. People in internet communities love to help each other, but sometimes a "fishing expedition" of numerous questions can raise suspicions about intent. |
I thought it was a quick way to add to one's post-count. (Like I'm doing now.)

Yep, I guess that works. :)

As a policy, we do not discuss other FlyerTalkers on FlyerTalk. So I am closing this thread.
