Jet lag questions
I was wondering why is it on my last trip to Israel I did not suffer Jet lag?
I departed NY around noon and arrived Tel Aviv around 5 AM. I was able to stay up until 9 PM and then the next morning I felt fine. On the return TLV-JFK-SJC flight I felt fine the next day as well ? On previous trips to the east coast and Hawaii I had no jet lag as well. But on my 99 Europe trip I had it for a week. Is this because I was able to sleep on the plane? Drinking Coffee in the morning upon arrival? Waking and sleeping at different times not a rigid schedule? Eating right? Exercising before/after flight? Or am I just lucky? Any ideas.? |
over the years, i have had many different reactions to jet lag....it just gets worse....
i believe that the solution is youth.....a new born has no problems with it....it goes downhill from there.... |
a quick gtip that helps me.
short stay (a few days) keep your bioclock on home time. this means getting up at 2 am, and having meetings at 9pm (body time...) long stay, keep yourself awake until bedtime the first night, this can involve being up 24 hrs +. but day 2 goes along nicely and yes, it gets worse over the years, and im still young :) |
If you are able to keep awake for a full day (like 5AM to 9PM) and sleep a full night afterwards, you should be fine. It's also a (big) function of your physical shape for your body's ability to recover from time changes.
Eastbound trips are much worse than westbound. On Westbound trips you have a really long day and if time it right (stay awake during the day and sleep only at the right night sleeping time) you should not have problems. On Eastbound trips - the day gets shorter and the times start to mix up. |
Has anyone tried the No-Jet Lag product from Travelsmith? Just wondering what you thought.

I've used it and found it to be very helpful. However, I also found Melatonin to work even better for me...and its cheaper.
