Well, JAC is more or less within Grand Teton National Park. FAT recently renamed itself (answering my own earlier question, although this may not be a "major" airport) into Fresno/Yosemite International (abbreviation FYI, cute, eh?) Then there's FCA, Glacier Park International Airport. Lots of other airports "serve" nearby national parks (e.g., FAI serves Denali, FLG serves Grand Canyon, LAS serves Death Valley, DCA serves all sorts of NPS properties in the D.C. area, etc., etc.) but I think those three are most in the spirit of the question. Others? ---- city pair palendroms-odd but fun to figure out. rap - par pit - tip |

Name two airports that changed call letters.
I knew one of them already, and the other I came upon when I was researching why Kahului Airport is OGG. |

Another couple of airports that changed names recently: JAN went from Jackson International Airport to Jackson-Evers International Airport, for civil rights leader Medger Evers, and SAV added Hilton Head to its name..
For those keeping score, the full list of renamed airports since 1997 (so far anyway) is BWI, EWR, DCA, FAT, MSY, ATL, SJC, BUR, IAH, SAV and JAN. All of them added someone's name except EWR, SAV and FAT. |
