Engine Failure AZ MXP-BOS

My parents were flying MXP-BOS on Alitalia yesterday, and after one hour in flight the plane had lost significant altitude and the Alps were in clear view. The captain states that they are having mechanical problems and need to turn back. Some people started to panic but they landed safely back at MXP with emergency vehicles lining the runway. Turns out, one of the engines on the 767-300 had failed.

They had to wait 10 hours for another plane and were stranded in BOS for one night because of a missed connection. All they were given was 2 meal vouchers and the hotel room.

Very scary experience for them.

That's what ETOPS is for! Glad to see that they landed safely. I am sure a very scary experience. But major airline pilots are very well trained to handle situations like this.
